Subscriptions (Print Forge Pro)

What does Print Forge Pro include?

Pro unlocks advanced Magic Cleanup options, additional editing tools, slicer export presets for Creality, Cura, PrusaSlicer, and Bambu Studio, and future features as they ship. The free tier covers basic LiDAR scanning, mesh preview, and STL export.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Print Forge on your iPhone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

How do I restore my purchases?

Open Print Forge, go to Settings → Restore Purchases. You must be signed in to the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.

How do I request a refund?

All purchases go through Apple. Head to reportaproblem.apple.com to request one. I can't issue refunds directly.

Scanning

Which iPhones support LiDAR scanning?

LiDAR is available on iPhone 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. If your device doesn't have LiDAR, Print Forge uses camera-based depth estimation, which works best on smaller, well-lit objects with non-reflective surfaces.

My scan looks messy. What should I do?

Run Magic Cleanup after the scan — it removes the background, fills holes, and repairs most mesh issues automatically. For better raw scans: move slowly, keep the object well-lit (avoid windows or harsh direct light), stay 30–60 cm from the object, and avoid shiny or transparent surfaces.

What types of objects scan well?

Matte surfaces, solid colors, and objects with clear edges scan best. Shiny metals, glass, mirrors, and very dark objects are harder for LiDAR to read accurately. Larger objects (20 cm and up) generally produce cleaner geometry than very small parts.

How accurate are the dimensions?

LiDAR gives a rough estimate of real-world scale, but it's not a substitute for a caliper. Use the Scale Tool to enter a known measurement and correct the model dimensions before exporting. For precise replacement parts, always verify with physical measurements.

Magic Cleanup & Editing

What does Magic Cleanup do?

Magic Cleanup removes the floor and background, deletes floating scan noise, fills small holes, repairs non-manifold geometry, smooths the mesh, and attempts to make the model watertight — all in one tap. You can choose Light, Balanced, Aggressive, Mechanical, or Organic mode depending on your object type.

Can I undo Magic Cleanup?

Yes. The original raw scan is always preserved. You can revert to it at any point from the model history panel.

How do I flatten the bottom of my model for printing?

Use the Plane Cut tool to slice off the bottom at a flat plane, or enable the Add Flat Base option in Magic Cleanup. This creates a stable contact surface for the print bed.

Export & Slicers

How do I export an STL?

Tap Export, choose your format (STL is the default), pick a slicer preset if you want units and orientation pre-configured, then tap Export. The file is saved to your device and the iOS share sheet opens so you can send it to Files, AirDrop, or your slicer app directly.

Which slicers are supported?

Export presets are included for Creality Print, Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, and a Generic FDM option. Any slicer that accepts standard STL files will work regardless of preset.

My slicer says the model has mesh errors. What do I do?

Run the Print Readiness Check in Print Forge before exporting — it flags non-manifold edges, holes, thin walls, and floating fragments, often with one-tap fixes. If issues persist, try running Magic Cleanup on Aggressive mode, which does a deeper repair pass.

The model is the wrong size in my slicer. How do I fix it?

Use the Scale Tool in Print Forge to set a known real-world dimension before exporting. STL files are exported in millimeters; if your slicer imports in the wrong unit, check its import settings and set the unit to mm.

Permissions

Why does Print Forge need camera access?

Camera access is required to capture the scan. The App uses the camera and LiDAR sensor only while you are actively scanning. No images or video are uploaded anywhere. You can review or change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Print Forge.

Why does Print Forge ask for photo library access?

Photo library access is optional and only requested if you choose to import photos for a photo-based scan session. The App reads only the photos you select. Nothing is uploaded.

Data & Privacy

Are my scans uploaded anywhere?

No. All scan data, 3D models, and project files stay on your device. Print Forge has no server-side processing and no account system. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous purchase information sent to RevenueCat to manage your subscription.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual projects from the project library inside the App. To remove all data permanently, delete the App from your device. To delete purchase records, email support@steinmetzlabssupport.zohodesk.com with your Support ID.
