Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a server?

Tap the + button on the main screen and select New Server. Enter your server's IP address or hostname, the RCON port (default is typically 25575 for Minecraft or 27015 for Source engine games), and your RCON password. Tap Save — your password is stored securely in the iOS Keychain.

What server types does CommandNest support?

CommandNest supports any server using the standard RCON protocol, including Minecraft Java Edition, Source engine game servers (CS:GO, TF2, Garry's Mod, etc.), and other servers that implement the Source RCON protocol. Support for additional protocols may be added in future updates.

I can't connect to my server. What should I check?

Try these steps in order:

1. Confirm RCON is enabled on your server (e.g., enable-rcon=true in Minecraft's server.properties).
2. Verify the RCON port is correct and open in your server's firewall.
3. Make sure your server's RCON password matches what you entered in CommandNest.
4. Check that your device has an active internet connection.
5. Some hosting providers block RCON ports by default — contact your host to confirm the port is accessible externally.

Where are my RCON passwords stored? Are they safe?

RCON passwords are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain, which encrypts credentials using your device's hardware security and passcode. They are never transmitted to our servers and are not included in iCloud sync or standard device backups. They are removed from Keychain when you delete the App.

Does my server traffic pass through your servers?

No. CommandNest connects directly from your device to your server. Your commands and server responses are never routed through or stored by our infrastructure. The connection is point-to-point between your iPhone and your server.

Can I sync server profiles across my devices?

Yes, via iCloud. Enable iCloud for CommandNest in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud. Server profile names and settings will sync across your Apple devices. Note: RCON passwords are intentionally excluded from sync for security — you will need to re-enter credentials on each device.

How do I view my command history?

Your command history is accessible from the console view for each server. Tap the history icon to browse previous commands and re-send them with a tap. You can clear your history at any time from the server settings menu.

How do I cancel my CommandNest subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → CommandNest → Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

How do I restore my subscription after reinstalling?

Open CommandNest, navigate to the subscription screen, and tap Restore Purchases. Your subscription will be restored as long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the CommandNest purchase, and select "Request a Refund."
